Day 1: Cusco – Red valley – Vinincunca – Cusco.

The ATV tour to Red Valley and Rainbow Mountain, can start in the morning (4:00 am or 5:00 am), the meeting point will be in the main square of Cusco or at the door of your hotel (this will be coordinated the day before the tour).

After the meeting we will make a 2 hour trip to Cusipata, where we will take a moment to have breakfast and continue for another hour in our transport until we arrive to our base located in Japura (Pitumarca).

Then, we will receive a brief explanation of the use of the ATVs and safety issues, to make sure everything is ok, we will practice for 15 minutes, then we will continue the ATV circuit for approximately 1 hour.

During the ATV trip, we will have some stops in special landscapes such as the red river surrounded by many mountains covered with snow, local people with typical costumes of the area and breeders of llamas and alpacas.

At these stops we will give you time to take pictures, at the end of the ATV circuit, we will not find in the red valley, we will continue walking until we reach the viewpoint of the red valley (5036 masl) to receive a small explanation about this beautiful surrealistic place.

After taking pictures and videos of the place, we will continue a 45 min to 60 min hike to descend through the red valley to reach the rainbow mountain (Vinincunca). Once in the mountain of colors the guide will give us the explanation of the mountain of colors.

You will have some free time for your pictures, then we will return to the red valley to descend in ATVs to our base, where lunch will be waiting for us and finally we will return to Cusco in our vehicles.

1. Can tickets be paid in dollars?

No, unfortunately in these places they only accept soles, we recommend you to bring soles and singles.

Of course you can, you can find ATVs in the place, but if you want to go on a private motorcycle you have to ask permission from the community.

3. What is the best season to do the ATV tour to red valley and rainbow mountain?

It is between the transition of the rainy season and the dry season, that is to say the month of March and April, because the red river can only be seen red during the rainy season, but the mountain of colors during the month of January and February is usually covered with snow.

4. When is the rainy season?

The rainy season is from November to March, during these months the rains are very present.
