Day 1:

We pick you up from your hotel at 5:00 am. and we’ll travel around 2 and ½ hours to Tinki, this is a small village where you will have a short free time to buy something you forget, then we keep going other 30 more minutes to Upis, where we start the hike, the view of the great Ausangate mountain welcome, first will be 2 hours uphill to arrive to the first pass ARAPA (4640 m.s.n.m.) where you will be very close to the sacred mountain of Ausangate, then we will start to going down, where we can see nice lagoons and sometimes wild Vicuñas in the trail, after 3 more hour of hiking you will arrive in Hatun Pucacocha where we will rest the fist night.

Day 2:

After a healthy breakfast we will keep walking, the challenge will be to arrive to the second pass 4990 mts. (Chillca Apacheta), the views from this trail will offer an unpredictable scenary with the huge ausangate and the lakes on the bottom, every minutes more high and less oxigen, after two hours of hike uphill we will arrive to the pass, where we will make a ceremony to the great spirits of the mountains, then we will start to going down to arrive in the second camping site Ananta Pata.

Day 3:

Very early in the morning we will continue our trek, first 1 and ½ hours to arrive to the third pass (Warmisaya) where you will already see our last destination “RAINBOW MOUNTAIN”, we will walk other 1 and ½ hours to arrive that place, we will arrive early before that all the groups arrive, so you will have the best option to take your pictures, then we will start to go down to Kayrawiri where our transportation will be waiting for us to bring us back to cusco again (5pm.).

What you need to take:

• Rain Poncho (The climate is quite changeable it is better to be forewarned).
• Comfortable clothes (somewhat warm) when you leave early and return late is a bit cold, it’s better to feel comfortable with your temperature.

This shared or GROUP service means that you will do the tour with other people, this standard service is done with a group between 12 to 16 people per guide, this does not mean that you have to get that amount of people to do the tour, we have confirmed departures for every day, so if you are only one or two people do not worry, you can join one of our groups.

STEP 2: PAYMENT OF THE DEPOSIT:

1.- I arrive in Cusco one day before, do you think I will have problems with the altitude on the tour?

There are many people who arrive in the same way as you, so it is recommended to do two days before the tour the appropriate acclimatization in Cusco, since the Ausangate snowy is at a higher altitude and you can face this altitude and if not, tell the guide to move you to a lower altitude and you can recover.

2.- I am traveling with my family, we have an 8 year old child and a 65 year old, will there be much difficulty for them?

The Ausangate and rainbow mountain we have previously had children and seniors who were in good physical condition so they finished the tour perfectly, if you wish you can also make a private tour to go at the pace of your children or seniors without following a group.

3.- I don’t like to give my personal information from my passport, is there any way to book the tour with names only?

We understand your concern, but the data requested are exclusively to fill the data in your tickets, these tickets are electronic tickets, it is like to take a plane, you have to show the ticket and your original passport; our privacy policies are very strict, your information will be in safe hands, we also hate SPAM.

4.- What happens if I have a delay and I can’t do the tour?

Unfortunately, all the tickets would be purchased and you would lose the whole tour, any change or cancellation of tour, has a penalty, this never happens, but if it were to happen we assure you that we would do everything in our hands, we recommend you to see our refund/cancellation policies.

5.- Do I have to do physical training to do the trek?

Yes, it is highly recommended to do a physical training before embarking on the Ausangate and Montaña de Colores trek. It is recommended to include cardiovascular exercises, such as walking, running or cycling, as well as muscular strength and endurance exercises, such as squats, push-ups and light weight training.

6.- Should I bring extra money for this tour?

It is advisable to bring extra money for the hike to Ausangate and colored mountain to cover unforeseen expenses, buy souvenirs or pay for additional services that may arise during the tour. As another tip we recommend you to bring cash and preferably soles, since most of the locals only accept soles and not dollars.

7.- Will I have access to internet and electricity during the trek?

During the Ausangate and Montaña de Colores trek, it is unlikely that you will find internet access or electricity in most areas. Bring your devices fully charged and batteries with power.

8.- Are there restrooms and showers on the hike?

Yes, there are restrooms along the trek in some campsites and designated areas. We also have portable toilets, but unlike the restrooms you will not find showers.

9.- What is the best time to Ausangate and rainbow mountain?

The best time to Ausangate and rainbow mountain is during the dry season in the Cusco region, which generally runs from May to September. During these months, the weather tends to be more stable, with sunny days and warmer temperatures during the day, which makes the trek more comfortable and enjoyable.

10.- How far in advance should I book this tour?
