This is one of the best-known hiking routes in all South America and the most important of Perú; walking around the Inca Trail will be the most unforgettable experience in your life, walking by the same way that the ingenious Incas walked 5 centuries ago is something indescribable, find huge buildings in the high of the mountains, someone in the valleys and at the edge of cliffs will make you imagine the big effort they did to build the well-preserved stoned Trails, until now these are the witnesses of the astonishment of the people who arrive from different places around the world to live this great experience, this trail will let you arrive in the citadel of Machu Picchu, as it made them with the Incas.
You have two options to go in this hike, the traditional 4 days Inca trail that due to the restrictions of the Peruvian Government with the desire to preserve the trail only provide 500 spaces per day, into this quantity is included, tourists, porters (carriers), tour guides and cookers, for this reason we recommend make your reservation 4 months in advance or 6 months in advance if your trip will be between May to September; also you have a short version of 2 days, this for those people who don’t have enough time, for this option is easier, you have availability every day but you must book weeks in advance. The trail can be done by any person and any age but for physical conditions we suggest from 13 years old, you don’t have to be athletes but in a good shape to walk (we make this trail with 65 and 70-year-old people), the difficulty is more for the altitude, the hike is in a tourist rhythm (this is not a rush), we go slow and have breaks.
We recommend for all the travelers and groups who want to go on the trail, arrive in Cusco at least 1 or 2 days before the trek departure to acclimatize very well, where you can do other activities in our nice city.
Come and know this unforgettable experience crossing the original royal Inca trail to get Machu Picchu, the magical lost city of the Incas, this is a good option for the adventure travelers who dreams to visit Machu Picchu in a different way, in this hike you’ll have the option to visit one of the biggest Inca site (Wiñaywayna = Forever joung) located on the original Inca Way, all this route was well stoned by Incas, arriving to Inti Punku (the sun’s gate) you’ll have a really nice scenary of Machupicchu from this different angle, this is a shorter option for those people who can not walk the 4 days normal Inca Trail.

Awesome people and company, they took care of everything I needed and made the experience very enjoyable. I arranged the trip with Beto who was very helpful and also Elizabeth... read more who couldn't have been nicer. They speak English so there's no problem if you don't speak Spanish. There was somebody waiting for me at the end of every van/bus/train ride to take me to the next area. My guide for the tour of Machu Picchu was Elvis who was very knowledgeable about the area and communicated in detail about various aspects of the ruins. I made this trip during the corona pandemic and they even arranged a ride to the airport for me during a Sunday lockdown, which was just something extra, not even part of my tour plan. They really went out of their way to help out in any way possible. I would definitely book with them again if I have the opportunity.
We, six of us from Turkey (including a nine year old boy and myself, 67 years old), booked a 2 days Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Inka Time was very... read more good to organize our trip. Many thanks to our guide Grimaldo, a real gentleman, and his boss who did all way in two hours to give us extra care. First day early in the morning after a beautiful train journey we got down at 104 km and did a wonderful hike up to Andes Mountains to Vinaywayna (=forever young) ancient inca site...passed waterfalls, walked above clouds, enjoyed breath-taking Urubamba scenery down, flora & fauna of the forest, keeping always original stone steps of Incas. It rained all day till we reached at last to Sun Gate (Inti Punku), Inca Kings gate, the sun came back at Sun Gate! ....and Machu Picchu was down there....we were all wet to the bone, very tired, but very happy, went to Aguas Calientes. Next day Grimaldo took us to Machu Picchu once more... Inka time gave each of us a walking stick at the start of hike which was very useful... for such rainy days one extra plastic pancho would be useful....
Best price and Best service! Naysha picked us up from the airport when we first arrived and she was the main person that connects us to the tour guides and... read more arranging our transportations. She even took us to a phone store to help us get a local sim card. Talk about service!
We also did the Sacred Valley and the Cusco city tour. Both guides were awesome! They were patience and were also constantly telling us to slow down as some of us were experiencing altitude sickness.
A big shout out to our tour guide Elvis at machu picchu was awesome! He was very patient since my mom was struggling to walk up and down the steps. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend to hire a private tour guide so you can ask questions and not feel rushed.
Overall, I would give this company my highest recommendation! They are able to customize and accommodate your needs. For example, at Machu Picchu picchu, my dad and I did the morning 7am hike to Huaynu Pichhu. I expressed my concern to the tour company about my mom taking the bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu by herself. They told me that the tour guide can pick my mom up at the lobby and personally escort her to the front gate to meet us after our hime! WOW! This was one of the reasons why I decided to go with this tour company.
Tips: download whatsapp for easy and convenient communication with them while you are in Cusco
Perfect service and price! Our guide Elvis was very kind, funny and knowledgable! Would recommend to anyone!
I've dealt many tour guides before but Beto was so nice and easy to deal with, and during our trip I was able to contact him any time of the... read more day and he helped us with everything we needed. The tour was really well arranged and everything was so professional. Would definitely recommend! Thank you again!
Machu Picchu (1 day tour)
We have just completed a tour of Machu Picchu with Inka Time. The preparation for this and the coordination were excellent. After much research... read more we were glad to avail of this tour company. We met in the main office in Cusco the night before the tour and had all our tickets issued and questions answered. Pick up at 5am prompt and the train journey in the 360 carriage was smooth. A box breakfast is offered with a hot drink. Another representative met us at Aguas Calientes and popped us on the bus to
MP. The guide, Ulysses met us and the other 6 in our group at the entrance. he was excellent and made it so so interesting, adding little humour to his tales. There are people everywhere and taking that perfect photo of the iconic site is difficult., but such is a tourist destination. I had some little words with a Chinese woman who demanded I step out of her posed photo which was taking her all my allocated time to grasp the chance of my own pic... unfortunately the day of selfies and posing for instagram specials makes it difficult to just get a couple of simple shots. Anyway our guide gave us some time to take a couple of pics at some areas, but seeing as we had some 2 hours extra at the end we wrongly thought we could easily get more photos at our leisure... this is not the case. The trail we took with our guide is ONE WAY ONLY! So when we finished up after 2 hours the guards told us we needed to keep going towards the exit! We were so disappointed not to have had time to take more photos at different spots. We did plead with the entrance gate guard who just as a once off let us in for half hour to get just a couple more pics.. ( holding our passports as collateral) we had 2 hours to kill in Aguas Calientes. Nice town with many restaurants and stalls, but a bit of a drawn out end. I don’t think it was made clear to us that the guided tour is a one way show and there is no opportunity to back track steps to take more pics at the end (security guards won’t allow) there are some signs for one way but they are very small and with people walking back and forward it’s just not clear enough. I would say if you don’t want to do lunch in Aguas Calientes the day could be made much shorter. The buses to and from the site were efficient (we didn’t have to wait long)
We had a great experience with Inka Time. Beto is available via whatsapp all the time to answer any questions and to make changes and adjustments to the reservation. We... read more did the inka trail two days and we had a great experience and a great guide Grimaldo. Wayna Pichu was an addition worth the extra money.
I booked the Sacred Valley 1-day tour after reading several Inka Time tourist reviews and communicated directly with those reviewers via Tripadvisor messaging. It generally went pretty well. They had... read more an agent/shuttle meet me my AirBnB and off we went picking up other tourists. The guide spoke well enough English. The NEGATIVE experience came when we were supposed to stop for lunch. My tour didn't include lunch and I was told that we would be in an area with several food options. Turned out that the guide dropped us off at a VERY HIGH PRICED buffet place where they were going to charge me 45 soles for the quick lunch. Mind you, the whole 12-hour tour with transportation and guide cost 60 soles, so you can imagine how pricey this restaurant was. When I balked at the price, the restaurant owner immediately dropped price to 30 soles. When I refused, she offered me a bowl of soup for 20 soles - a rip off! I was very upset and complained to the tour guide. He claimed he had nothing to do with it, that he just showed up to where he was directed. I decided to chance it and walked out onto a very desolate street. As I said, we were dropped off in the middle of nowhere, not exactly what was described to me. I found a little hole in the wall across the street where I saw hot soup, chicken and rice for 8 soles. It looked clean enough so I chanced it and was fine (this to give you perspective of what I paid, compared to what they were going to rip me off, because I was a tourist).
Booked with them because there aren’t many that offer both mountains in one trip. Both entrance tickets are included. Pickup was on time and food was pretty good. Would go... read more with them again!
1.- I am just one person, can I join some group tour?
Yes, you can, we have departure every day, feel free to decide when to go.
2.- We don’t like to go in a big group, can we arrange a private tour?
Yes you can, our group tours go with 15 or 19 people, but if you want, you can also arrange a private tour, we have different rates for it depending on how many people you are.
3.- I will travel with my family, we have two 65 YO people, do you think, can they make it?
We had people on this tour from 70 and 75 YO, the tour is not hard, but you have some small hikes into the Inca Sites where there are many steps to go up and down if you think they are not to fit to do it, we recommend to take a Private tour, that will be a perfect plan to do the tour quite easily and smoothly.
4.- We want to take the tour included Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu mountain, do we have enough time to do it in the same day tour of Machu Picchu?
Yes, On this tour you will sleep in Aguas Calientes (Town of Machu Picchu) so you can take some of the first busses, the park opens at 6:00 am. suppose that you will get in at 7:00 am. First, you can climb the Mountain (2 or 3 and 1/2 hours hike) until 10:30 am. Then, you can go out to use the toilet or eat something and rest, then you can start the guided tour around the citadel (Around 2 hours) until 14:00 hrs. Then you will have free time to continue exploring on your own, the park is open until 5 pm. You will have like 10 hours to be there, the train departure to return is at 19:00 hrs.
5.- How about my luggage, can I take all my staff?, or where can I store it?
As this tour is only for 2 days we recommend to take only small backpacks because there are restrictions to take on the train, and also all the streets in Aguas Calientes have only pedestrian access. The rest of your stuff you can be stored at your accommodation in Cusco, All the Hotels have storage if you book the night for your way back, you can leave your stuff there, another option is that you can leave your stuff in our office, in the two options you don’t need to pay anything extra.
6.- How about the altitude, Are going to pass by other places higher than Cusco?
Cusco city is located in 3350 masl. (10990 Ft.) the only place higher than Cusco is Chinchero area 3750 masl. then you will descend to Aguas Calientes 2050 masl. Machu Picchu is located in 2450 masl (8038 Ft.); we always recommend to have at least one day in Cusco to acclimatize; altitude sickness is very different for everyone, sometimes you don’t have any problem.
